What does the October 11, 2005 State Performance Audit really say is the financial problem for the Struthers City Schools?
On page 2-27 the report states: "It appears the district's financial difficulties are due to overspending rather than a lack of funding. In Fiscal Year 2003-04, Struthers City School District received approximately $39 more per student in total general fund revenue than the peer average. However, during the same time period, the district spent $7,906 per student, or approximately $1, 039 more than the peer average. In addition, while all the peers were successful in keeping their expenditures at a level similar to their available revenues, the Struthers City School District OVERSPENT their available revenues by approximately $875 per student."
If elected, Dennis Spisak will see that if expenditures exceed the available appropriations, reductions in other areas of the budget will occur.
Dennis Spisak will watch and spend our tax dollars wisely, unlike the former superintendent and Board of Education prior to 2005.
